Marcus was a gorilla soldier and leader of the hunting party responsible for capturing George Taylor, John Landon and Nova. He also killed astronaut Dodge by shooting him in the chest. Marcus later accompanied Doctor Zaius on an expedition to the outskirts of the Forbidden Zone to capture Taylor and the renegade apes, Cornelius, Zira and Lucius.
